Variable Speed Pumping Systems - with a Special Update on ECMs
We will begin with a special update from a subject matter expert on EC Motors, covering how they work, applications in HVAC systems, available sizes in the current generation of motors, and advantages & disadvantages compared to induction motors.  We will then transition to a discussion of variable speed pump systems, including: an overview of variable speed pump control (both Sensored and Sensorless), the source of energy savings when comparing variable speed versus constant speed, how the pump and system curves work, and considerations for variable speed systems that would not apply to constant speed systems.

Will is an Application Engineer with 4 years experience at Cummins-Wagner.  Will has a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University and is cerfitied by the Hydraulic Institute as a Pump Systems Assessment Professional (PSAP).
